Let's take a walk, shall we?

Right down memory lane. All the way back to the Big 80's and I'm not kiddin' when I say BIG 80's and you will see why in just a little bit. Today is my anniversary. Wedding anniversary...me and Mr. Mom have been married 19 years. The walk I'm about to take you on, is down a rather bumpy lane of..........HAIR.

Please don't be scared....

Let's look at a few wedding photos...(please, no judging the photos. I had to take pictures of pictures because they are so old that I don't have them on the computer!) Ok, where were we. Awww...wedding photos.

Mr. Mom - The Groom

Isn't he hot in all his hair studliness? hee hee You can't tell but it was down his back a little ways.

Now, the bride..NO MAKIN FUN, it's not nice....

Now, this was not my hair, the way it was BEFORE the wedding. Why? Why, would anyone get their hair cut the day OF their wedding?! I hated it!

Now, here's just a few more wedding photos for your enjoyment. We had a beautiful, very small, very 80's wedding ceremony. Complete with the color peach.

Now, let's move on. Without going into loads of detail, cuz there's just to much, I'm just going to show some photos. You can see for yourselves, the fashion changes we've been through.

Yes, that really was my hair, it was a perm and I loved it! I know you know which one I'm talking about!

Now for the serious stuff. Happy Anniversary Mr. Mom! I love you so much! I know the road has been rocky but we always work it out and make it through. I thank God everyday for what we have together.
We have a beautiful family, and a beautiful home. Thanks for making me a very happy woman, wife and mom!

Not Me Monday...

This is my first Not Me Monday post and I'm posting it early I know! Here we go...

1. I did not eat 4 pieces of mushroom pizza AND chow down on taco dip and chips...nope not me!

2. I did not lay around in my jammies all day Sunday and miss church cuz I don't feel good...nope not me!

3. I did not sneak into Marshall's just to look around and spent almost an hour in there on Saturday..nope not me!

4. I did not tell my daughter to "hold on for a commercial break" cuz I was in the middle of a Lifetime movie...nope not me! (um, that's important programming, people!)

5. I did not eat 8 mini white powdered donuts this weekend...nope not me!

6. I did not sit and play on the computer when I said I was going to go to bed early...nope not me!

7. I did not NOT put away the laundry again today...nope not me!

8. I did not just ignore for the 3rd day in a row the dish towels that I folded and never put away. It's a long way downstairs!

I know there has to be more...I'll try to add more later. I still do not have a voice! Laryngitis means I don't have to answer the phone at work tomorrow! I'll have to be really nice to the others in the office so I can forward my phone to one of them!

Click on the "Not Me Monday" button to see others!

Have a great night and talk to you all this week!

I've been caught and tagged by Adventure Girl!

Thanks for tagging me cuz I'm sure that EVERYONE wants to know more about me! hee hee

Here goes...these are just going to be random...first things that come to mind...

1. I absolutely LOVE music! I love all kinds of music. Life would be so quiet without it! I love to hear the piano. My Mom played by ear and played beautifully and I miss it everyday. I love contemporary Christian music...Third Day, Casting Crowns, Toby Mac - amazing, beautiful, uplifting and inspiring. If I could sing, I would love to sing at church.

2. I love road trips to anywhere! I really do love riding in the car. I love to stop at those silly "have everything" gas stations and look at all the silly stuff. Have y'all heard of the Kum and Go"? Of course, I never purchase anything but sunflower seeds! : )

3. I have a secret obsession to making sure all the blinds are open the same way. I can't help it..I have a little OCD. I can not help myself when I have told the kids to clean their rooms and I sneak in after them and finish up...it needs to be done right! Weird, I know...

4. I LOVE painting my nails and toes....Can't have ONE chip out in public...gotta make sure they are perfect!

5. I have an unusual addiction to handbags. I'm totally serious when I say, I change bags once or twice every two weeks! I can't help it. When I go shopping, the first thing I think about is handbags, satchels, purses...woo hoo! I smell them when I walk in....

6. I wouldn't change my life right now cuz I love my family BUT if I had the chance and the funds, I would go to school and become an Occupational Therapist for handicapped kids. It's always been a dream of mine.

7. I love to read! Chick Lit mostly but I love most books. I totally love to go to bookstores and look at all the shelves...I could spend hours...maybe I should have been a Librarian.

Ok, now it's your turn!

1. Nicole (Adventures of an East Coast Chick turned Midwest)
2. Marchelle (.Chronicles of a Working Mom. )
3. Edie (lifeingrace )
4. Becky (My Crazy Beautiful Life )
5. Ang (DavisixFix)
6. Scrappy Girl (Four Seasons Farm )
7. Jill (The Hutchison Family)

Have fun!

Our Trip to Micky D's...

Have any of you ever taken two 9 yr. old girls to McDonald's? I'm sure that some of you have. It's definitely an adventure in patience!

Let's start with a photo of the two 9 yr olds..This is Maeci and Lexi.

Here they are in all their Princess glory. Two peas in a pod....

This is the way the entire lunch went. Maeci, you need to eat...
Maeci - "Lex-look at this."
Lexi - "I know, it's so cool."
Maeci - "I love the Wizard of Oz."

Maeci, really you need to take a bite...
Maeci, take that nugget and put it in your mouth! We can't spend all day here!

Take note of the size of that sweet tea, will ya! Does a 9 yr. old really need this much sweet tea? Let the judging begin!
"Check out the Oz characters on the box, Lex!"
"I know, who's this?"
Girls, really, let's eat!

By this time, I am worn out, have been done eating for 30 min or more! Awww....to be young again, and not in so much of a hurry!

After thinking this whole lunch through, I found out that I needed a reminder to slow down and enjoy the good stuff! And this time with these two wonderful little girls was my reminder. We all need to slow down and enjoy life a little more and enjoy the little ones around us. Time is moving much to fast and soon they will be all grown up, in all their Princess glory, and we will be wishing for those LONG McDonald's lunches.

All Good Things Must Come To An End.....

The Indianapolis Colts (GO HORSE!) has a new home in lovely downtown Indy, which means their former home must come down. Today was the day for the deflation of our beloved RCA Dome. I work in downtown Indy and was in the middle of all the excitement.

BUT, I missed every dang bit of it! But I sure don't miss a second of peering into windows of the nearby hotels that surround our building! You people would be amazed at the things that we have witnessed! Do people really think that we can't see them through the "tinted" windows? I might have to do a little blogging about some of the things we've seen...someday...maybe...maybe not...it scares me.....we'll see....

Where was my head? How could I miss such a HUGE history making event???? Well, my boss needed me to work. Really? Seriously? Are you kidding me???

Here's a little background for you....enjoy.

The RCA Dome was a domed stadium located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which was the home of the Indianapolis Colts NFL franchise for 24 seasons (1984-2007). It was completed in 1984 at a cost of $82 million as part of the Indiana Convention Center, with the costs split evenly between private and public money. It was finished nearly a year before the Colts actually moved to the city. In 1984, the Colts relocated to Indianapolis from Baltimore.

The stadium was completed in 1984. It was similar in design and appearance to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis and BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, owing in great part to the involvement of engineer David Geiger, pioneer in air-supported roofs[1].

The RCA Dome hosted WrestleMania VIII in 1992. WrestleMania VIII was the last appearance of Jake "The Snake" Roberts until 1995, "Macho Man" Randy Savage's last title win, Hulk Hogan's last match until WrestleMania IX, the return of The Ultimate Warrior, and Bret Hart's second reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. However, WrestleMania VIII failed to sell out, the first WrestleMania to do so. And we all know that this is something to brag about!! I love me some Hulk Hogan!!!

The stadium was originally named the Hoosier Dome until 1994 when RCA paid $10 million for the naming rights for 10 years, with two five-year options to RCA at a cost of $13.5 million if invoked. The stadium seated 57,980 for football. Modifications were made to the stadium in 2001 to expand the suites and add club seating. Before that, the maximum seating for a football crowd was 60,272. The dome was officially dedicated on September 8, 1984, as a sellout crowd watched the Purdue Boilermakers defeat the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Basketball was also played at the RCA Dome. The first game played there was an exhibition game in 1984 between an NBA All-Star team led by home-state hero Larry Bird and the United States Olympic Men's Basketball team, coached by Bob Knight, (stated proudly even if he did need anger management!) who was at the time the coach of Indiana University. The dome also served as the site of the NBA All-Star Game in February 1985, where a record NBA crowd of 43,146 saw the Western Conference beat the Eastern Conference 140–129[2]. Since then it hosted many NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship games, including four Final Fours (1991, 1997, 2000, 2006). The NCAA, whose headquarters are in Indianapolis, has committed to holding the Final Four in Indianapolis once every five years. The RCA Dome hosted its first Women's Final Four in 2005.

In addition, it hosted 1990 General Conference Sessions of Seventh-day Adventists, the Indiana High School Athletic Association's annual boys and girls championships, and served as one of two sites for the FIBA Men's World Basketball Championship Tournament in 2002, sharing the honors with Conseco Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers. Additionally, the RCA Dome served as the site of the Indiana State School Music Association State Marching Band Competition, the Bands of America Grand Nationals, and the Drum Corps International Midwestern Regional, along with the NFL Scouting Combine in February of each year.

Originally the football playing surface was Astroturf, replaced with FieldTurf in May 2005[3].

Roof

The roof is made up of teflon-coated fiberglass and weighs 257 tons. It is held up by the air pressure inside the building. The ceiling is 193 feet high, though the height varies up to five feet as the materials expand and contract with the weather. As was the case with two other domes of this style, the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York and the Pontiac Silverdome outside Detroit, Michigan, there were warning signs posted cautioning patrons of the high winds at the doors when exiting. On September 24, 2008, the roof of the Dome was deflated.

Future

The stadium has been replaced by a new retractable-roof stadium, the Lucas Oil Stadium, in time for the 2008 NFL season. It recently was completed due south of the RCA Dome, which is slated to be demolished at a cost of $3,500,000[4].

The final game played in the RCA Dome was an AFC Divisional Playoff game between the Colts and the San Diego Chargers on January 13, 2008. The Chargers won, 28–24. The Colts also lost their final regular-season home game at RCA Dome on December 30, 2007, 16-10 to the Tennessee Titans.

The Dome Deflated...

Sixteen large fans that kept the dome's fabric roof aloft were shut down Wednesday morning, allowing the roof to deflate and fall within about 50 feet of the stadium floor.

The dome near downtown Indianapolis is being demolished, now that the Indianapolis Colts have moved to the nearby Lucas Oil Stadium.

Former Mayor Bill Hudnut gave the order to shut off the fans. The 8-acre roof took about 35 minutes to deflate.

The upper level seating area will be imploded in December.

The dome opened in 1984. It was the Indianapolis Colts' home until August, when Lucas Oil Stadium opened.

Once the roof is removed, demolition work will accelerate with an implosion of the dome planned for December.

I'm sure this moment was sad for some old timers but I see it as a bright new future! I love change!

Oh and BTW - we are a "green" city...80% of the domes materials are going to be recycled! Yay!!! And you can even purchase pieces for your souvenir shelf at home!!! hee hee Come on, I know you want to.....

My exciting, busy weekend....

Whew! I'm worn out! What a weekend! Let's see, it all started on Thursday evening when Mr. Mom started feeling crappy. I ended up staying home on Friday with him because he was in so much pain and I wasn't sure if we were going to end up at the ER or not. He went to see the doc, had an x-ray and blood work and was told he had some sort of infection. Mr. Mom's exact words....."Dr. Rogers just called and said that some of my tests were really bad and off the charts!" What does this mean??? He couldn't remember anything else! What????? He's killing me with this. So...I have no clue what to do other than keep an eye on him for fever. Ugh... So...we waited and waited. He hasn't slept in two nights and not only is he driving himself nuts, he's driving me insane! I can't stand tossing and turning...lay still already or move to the couch for pete's sake! Just so you all know...I am not a nurse....

We get up Saturday morning for The Celeb's basketball practice, which he insists on going to and he's still in pain. The doc calls to see how he's doing (How nice is that?) and when Mr. Mom said the same, he sent us straight to the ER. GREEEEAATTT...my favorite place! We were there for over 5 hours! Good thing I carry a book wherever I go! They started with an IV, drew more blood and made him drink 2 HUGE bottles of barium, of course the label says Berry Smoothie...Um let's call it what it really is! DISGUSTING!

So, after an hour and 20 minutes of trying/gagging to get every last drop down, they wheeled him off to have a CAT scan. I snuck out during this time to partake in chicken alfredo at Pizza Hut with my Dad and Seestor. Um...One of us needs to keep up our strength! Shhhhh... Don't tell him!

FINALLY at 3:30 they give us the diagnosis of diverticulitis....WTH?...we said in unison! I won't go into great detail but it's an infection near the colon and is severely painful! So, he was given another IV with 2 different kinds of antibiotics and it took an hour to get that down. I, once again, snuck out and headed to pick up The Celeb and go to the grocery. I than ran home, got dinner started and went back to the hospital to pick him up. It was a grueling day! Did I say that I'm not a nurse already?

We had dinner, cleaned up and I took The Celeb to a friends house for a sleepover. The Teen was already at a friends for the night. Mr. Mom headed for bed and I got out the nail polish to give myself a little manicure. It was great! And, I watched College Road Trip all by myself...it was funny!

During this, I kept getting text messages from Mr. Mom, from our upstairs bedroom. "I need something", "Will you get me a drink?", "Can you bring me..."

Did I already say, that I'm not a nurse!

My Morning...

See this girl - she wears me out! (but you know I love her!)

The Celeb and I went to bed last night at 8:30...I'm not sure what's been going on with me but I have been overly tired these days. Maybe it's my age creeping up on me..or maybe it's because Mr. Mom has the windows open, the ceiling fan and the floor fan blowing frigid air all around us and I can't sleep.....I don't know. I love to cuddle up in bed and watch tv and that's just what we did last night..EARLY. So...you would think that I would be rested today...but NOOOO...I'm not. I got up at 6:00 a.m. still feeling groggy and blah...got The Celeb up at 6:15. Once she's up, there is no alone time in the bathroom, even if she is ready she sits on the toilet and stares at me and the fun begins....

#1 Celeb - Your wearing green eyeshadow? Me - yes
#2 Celeb - You don't have anything green on...Me - it's ok, my eyes are green
#3 Me - You need to brush your hair....Celeb - Just put it up in a messy bun..Me - You still need to brush it.
#4 Celeb - Don't you think my sleeves are to short? Me - no they look fine. Celeb - Mom, look at them, you know how I like them. Me - Ok, just get something to wear.
#5 Celeb - What shoes do you want me to wear. Me - it doesn't matter.
#6 Me - Did you brush your teeth? Celeb - Not yet. Me - Go do that while I finish my hair.
#7 Celeb - My hair keeps falling out of the headband. Me - Get me two bobby pins and I'll fix it. Celeb - I don't want to go back upstairs. Me - Then don't complain. Celeb - Fine, I'll just wear it down. Me - No you won't. Celeb (she's gone for a few min. and comes back with it all fixed up) I just got a thicker headband, it's fine now. Sigh....anything to win.

Now we head downstairs -

#8 Me - I'll finish my makeup downstairs, we have to get your lunch packed. Celeb - And I need breakfast.
#9 Me - Go ahead a get your lunch started and I'll put the spaghettio's in the microwave. Celeb - Make sure you open the ones with The Cars noodles, cuz yesterday you fixed the wrong ones. (does it really matter?) Abby's mom makes her Ramen noodles for her lunch. Me - well her mom obviously has time for that, I don't. Celeb - I'm just sayin....
#10 Me - Finally we are ready with 15 min to spare, I think I'll finish my makeup now.
#11 Celeb - Do you wish your bedroom was down here. Me - No. Celeb - Do you wish Jacob's room was downstairs. Me - No, I like all the bedrooms to be upstairs where they are cuz no one can see when they are messy (of course MY house is NEVER messy). Celeb - Then we could just shut all the doors.
#12 Me - I'm finishing my makeup. Celeb - (she's looking at me intensely) Mom, What's a unibrow?? Is she kidding me with this???!!!

I DO NOT HAVE A UNIBROW!

I'm not seeing it....

I received a text message the other day from a friend in Kansas. He thinks I have a strong resemblance to Gov. Sarah Palin. I wasn't seeing it so I dug up a photo from 2 years ago when I had longer hair. I do wear glasses when I don't have my contacts in but can't find a picture with them on...Is anyone else seeing it?

I think it's the hair....I do have the creases around my mouth...I do have the "little" round cheeks..hmmm....and apparently I wasn't aware of the lighting when I picked my blush color....but it made my teeth look whiter....and it was Vegas...doesn't anything go there?

Gloomy....

I hate when the alarm goes off at 5:45 and it's pitch black outside! I snoozed 3 times this morning and that means I lost 30 minutes of beauty time! And I need every darn second!! So, it was one busy morning trying to get the The Celeb on the bus, she remembered when she got outside that it was Hat Day, so in she ran to grab a hat..she quietly went into her brothers room and grabbed one of his Texas Longhorn hats (hope he wasn't going to wear it today)! She hopped on the bus yelling "bye mom, love you, bye mom, bye mom..." You would think that she's never going to see me again, but you know I love it! So, I hop in the car and head down the road...I'm listening to music (Everybody Dance Now) and rockin it out and The Teen sends me a text (cuz it's the only way he likes to communicate), he has a killer headache and wants to skip first period..Um NO..was my first answer but I gave in. We all have yucky days...I've stayed home a time or two when I really could have drug myself in to work...don't tell.

So, here I sit at work on this gloomy, rainy day.....

have you ever forgotten your underwear?

Just asking.....

Please remember....

Today is September 11, 2008.

I'm sure we all remember where we were and what we were doing on this day 7 years ago. That's something we'll never forget. But as we go through our normal activities and routines today, please remember the families of everyone who died that day....Dads, Moms, Grandparents, Sons, Daughters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and also the brave men and women who lost their lives trying to save others..

I'm sorry...I must confess...

I LOVE THE SONG WILDFIRE BY MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHY....I can't help it...I've tried to let it go but it's to hard. I'm a child of the 70's and I can't deny that it's my all time favorite era!

Now Wildfire is a sad song but if any of you out there remember it, it just sticks in your head...sing it with me....

She comes down from Yellow Mountain
On a dark, flat land she rides
On a pony she named Wildfire
With a whirlwind by her side
On a cold Nebraska night

Oh, they say she died one winter
When there came a killing frost
And the pony she named Wildfire
Busted down its stall
In a blizzard he was lost

She ran calling Wildfire [x3]
By the dark of the moon I planted
But there came an early snow
There's been a hoot-owl howling by my window now
For six nights in a row
She's coming for me, I know
And on Wildfire we're both gonna go

We'll be riding Wildfire [x3]

On Wildfire we're gonna ride
Gonna leave sodbustin' behind
Get these hard times right on out of our minds
Riding Wildfire

Thanks for joining in...you all sounded great but you might want to keep your day jobs!

I think I'm going to have Wildfire tattooed somewhere....just maybe.....

HE'S A SENIOR!!! WHAT???? (UPDATED)

The Teen is a SENIOR this year! That makes me officially OLD! I can't even believe it...I feel like I've let so much slip by and now he's almost an adult (not quite though, we are still ridiculous parents who make him buy his own gas!). I've worked my whole life, took the normal maternity leaves and here we are. What happened? I tried my best to attend all school functions, all sporting events, volunteered at school for classroom time, field trips, etc....but it still seems that it's passed by so quick.

Oh, and maybe I didn't win the Mother of the Year award when he fell out of bed at 4 and hobbled around, crawled down the hallway, and I made him put his shoes on, even though he was crying that his foot hurt...but I was going to be late for work people! And let me throw in here the The Teen was like the little boy who cried wolf....OH MY WORD was he dramatic...I never knew if he was truly in pain or not. Does that help my case any? Um...the foot swelled, turned black and blue, Mr. Mom took him to the hospital and he ended up with a cast up to his little knee. I didn't let him walk for then entire 6 weeks! And it was Christmas when he got the cast - he chose red of course and guess what???? Santa signed his cast Christmas Eve and boy was he excited when he woke up the next morning! Am I helping my case any???? But he's fine now...he doesn't have a limp or anything...so get off my back!

Ok...so I'm feeling a little sad girls...I'm tearing up as I write this not because there's not an award on my mantel either. Hold please while I grab some tissue........................................ok, I'm back.

Jake has been a wonderful kid! Other than the occasional (ok tons of) arguments, smart alec remarks, back talk (which I hate), I'm sure it's because we are ridiculous because we make him buy his own gas, and just plain ol' boy stuff he's contributed too, he's been a good kid. Oh, man is he accident prone - he gets injured like it's his J O B! I'm surprised CPS hasn't been at my doorstep...shhhhh....

I remember one time..at band camp...when he was about 3. Santa brought gifts and he was rummaging around under the tree and he kept saying "Mommy, there's another one for J A C O B!" (he spelled it out) "and another one for J A C O B from big ol fat Santa!" Cracked me up - he was learning to spell his name.

Jake has never been into movies but he loves to take us to the Gun Show....

HAHA.....He thinks he's so funny when he does this...the boy is SKINNY but he's got arms! Don't make him mad! Cracks us up!

He's one cool dude!

Here he is with one of his favorite people...Nonnie...this is my Mom, she passed away 2 years ago and he misses her terribly. Jake, if you read this, just know the Non loved you lot's and we have tons of great memories...remember this one?? : )
Not sure about the look you were going for here but I'm pretty sure you were auditioning for a part in The Fly....

This just warms my heart....here he is with the truck (that he wants to trade in) that we GAVE him (titles still in my name), oh, and we (as in Mr. Mom and I) still have a couple more payments on...AND we pay the insurance on (that he agreed to pitch in on and I still haven't seen a dime ; ) AND we are soooo not right and ridiculous because we make him put his OWN gas in it...poor poor thing....did you all know that ALL of his friends parents give them gas money and they NEVER have to earn any money??? ALL OF THEM! Awwww.....can I get some violins playing in the background please????

And this would be what he does best...talking on the phone....and I'm sure he's talking to The Girlfriend...Get off the phone...Jake!

This is the Junior Prom....so cool, isn't he? He just had to wear the gangsta white tux...

Always the comedians.....

Here they are with the girls..."boy's did you all remember your good socks?" Um, noooooo....you can't tell here but we had them lift up their pants and 5 out of 6 of them had Nike socks on, including my Teen. Sigh....I tried to raise him right....

I had to edit this post because I forgot to mention that The Teen has had a job since he was 15. And I'm VERY proud of him! That Summer when I told him he needed to work and not sit around and play XBox, he did just that! Landed him a job at Pizza King! WooHoo...GAS MONEY....INSURANCE MONEY! He worked there for a little over a year and moved on to a place called Wiggles (hence the Wiggles T in the pic) and he's still there! Now the only drama we get from his working is when we ask for him to do a teensy bit of work around the house is...."Are you kidding me, I've worked all day!" Now working all day is only about 4 hours....cracks me up! Everyone put their hands together for THE TEEN....seriously we are very proud of him!

And here he is all growed up...almost.....

Love Ya Jake!
