Mr. Mom had surgery....

IMG00453.jpg
Mr. Mom had surgery today on his knee. They thought at first that he tore the meniscus but after diving in and looking around decided that wasn't it at all. He had ACL surgery 24 years ago, so lots of wear and tear in the knee area and they decided that he just needed some cartilage shaved down and sewed him back up. We were at the hospital at 8:00 am, surgery and 11:45 am and home by 2:00 pm. (if you like to people watch like I do...hang out in a waiting room for 5 hours..Wowee)

So, I come to you in need. I need prayer..yep, ME. I know y'all know that I'm not a nurse nor am I a nurturer. I'm not sure why. Something must have happened in childhood that I've blocked out. As soon as we got home, I had to get him all propped up on the couch and get his leg raised above his heart..ugh...then he needs blankets...3 blankets...then they are to heavy on his leg..Kel can you fix them? Can you cut these hospital bracelets off my arm? Can you help me change the water in the cooler for the brace? I'm hungry? I'm thirsty? Are you kidding me? I do want to say that I saw the faintest little smirk on his cute dimpled face during all this!

The biggest issue with Mr. Mom being down, flat on his back, is that he can't cook dinner! My sister said if he was a real man, he would've had dinner on before we left this morning. And I have to say, I agree! I opened the freezer-no casserole's, nothing. What's a girl to do? I'll tell you what! I headed to Kroger and bought a lemon peppered rotisserie chicken and some macaroni salad! The kids and I have a wedding tomorrow night so dinner will be at the reception. So, we're good for one more night. What the hec am I going to leave him to eat? Chips and a soda? : )

Ok, I'm totally kidding, sorta. I'm not a nurturer or a nurse or a cook. It's just not in me. Never has been and at this point, probably never will be. BUT, I love Mr. Mom and appreciate all that he does for us. He truly is an awesome husband, father and friend. And I will do my very best to take care of him for the next week or so. I have to eat again! LOL!

Now, the following photo is not pretty but I couldn't resist. A guy in support hose will never be pretty. You can tell he totally posed for this picture!

I'm really not a mean, insensitive, uncaring human being..I promise. : )

So, now I'll ask for all my wonderful prayer warrior friends to help me pray for Mr. Mom's speedy recovery!

Pray for patience for me! hee hee

Love ya!!!

  15. Keli,

Our prayers are always with you guys, but especially now for a speedy knee recovery. I am also a Mr. Mom as you might already know. I have a roast in the over right now. No kidding. And I also am in line for some knee surgery, shoulder surgery, and elbow surgery. So I do know how he feels. I had an ACL removal done in 84 and just found out about a year ago that they accidentally also removed my meniscus. Yeah thats a pretty important part of your knee not to have for all these years. So bone to bone all this time. Now I must have total knee replacement. They want me to stay on it though for as long as I can stand up basically or handle the pain. Once the surgery happens, they have said that I will have to hav a new replacement about every ten years. So Im gonna make this ole knee go as far as it will take me.

Much love and prayers for your Mr. Mom!

  17. take it from me: men can be the biggest babies of them all....

not that YOUR husband is... but i know MINE can be. he can have a "cold" and all hadeez breaks loose if he doesn't have his pillow fluffed every 6 minutes... no make that 6 and 1/2 minutes.. no more, no less.

i think you get my drift.

    just please don't kill him...
    and
try not to hurt him too bad.

    Because
    after all....
    never forget......

    ::wait for it::

  23. I will definitely be praying for you. I have been there too, my husband was down for a long time with his knee injury followed by infection and lots of complications...poor thing still runs like a gimp. :) It's not easy having your man down, especially one that is awesome enough to cook for you! Good luck.

  24. I'm glad the surgery wasn't as serious as anticipated! And my hubby is a Mr. Mom, too. If he was down and out, I don't know what I'd do--no dinner or laundry! Yikes. In fact, hubby called to tell me that meatloaf and potatoes will be in the oven when I get home! And I can totally relate...I'm not a nurterer either, so you will be in my prayers ;0)

  27. oh my I could have posted this too, and my main squeeze cooks dinner and brings home the bacon too! I'm such a loser. LOL, no not at all.

I am not a nurturer. I don't like to cater and pamper to sickies. Here's your food now buzz me in an hour. I don't expect to be catered to when I'm sick. I think it is how you were brought up when young. Obviously my mil was a OVER NUTURER! sucks for me, when hubs is sick but it is great when either me or my children are sick. Mr. Incredible is very attentive to needs or wants. He will even travel out to the store if we need or crave something? ME?? NOPE, I tell my kids, sorry we don't have it. What else can I get for ya.
