I made something!!!

One of my bestest girlfriends had a birthday the other day and I just couldn't come up with something original to get her! I'm mean, seriously, how many candles, picture frames and socks could a person get???

So, I thought and thought and thought and my head started really hurting and then DING DING DING, the light bulb flashed and that doesn't happen very often so I knew I had to act fast! Thankfully JoAnn Fabrics was still open! I was hoping JoAnn herself would pop out of nowhere and help me, I get so lost and overwhelmed in craft stores and anxiety kicks in, I can't see straight, I go from one end of the store to the other, by the time I finally find everything I need, I'm drenched in sweat...it's exhausting.

I follow this blog, http://shellinyourpocket.blogspot.com that I love and she has great craft ideas!

So...the inner Carol Duvall pushed her way out of me and got CRAFTY!

Seriously, it was a very simple project and the birthday girl loved it! My daughter and I are going to make several for Christmas gifts. She thinks her teacher would love one!

I used an 8x10 frame and bought several sheets of different scrap booking paper. I put it in order by holiday and everyday paper to the back and put them all in the frame. It's a dry erase board! Very unique, simple and I personally think they will make great gifts for mom's, teachers, college students, etc....What a wonderful way to quickly jot down a note! You can change the bows, paint the frame, endless possibilities to spruce them up depending on the person you are making it for!

I chose to go simple by just gluing a bow at the corner...Here's the one I made (I'm not sure using the word made is the right word since all I did was use a little glue and cut some paper). But it was "made" with love!

I wrote her a Happy Birthday note and left it at her desk. Make sure you give them a marker to go with the board...you can use velcro to stick it to the back of the board. I found using a permanent marker worked best...you just need to use a wet cloth for erasing. Dry erase markers didn't seem dark enough.

  1. I just had a blond moment...

I was sitting here trying to figure out how you would erase markers from paper. I don't know how I got SO lost. Then it hit me...you write on the GLASS...you leave the glass in the frame! LOL! OMGoodness...I think I need a nap.

This is such a great idea! I love it...

  5. **APRIL 23RD** Just a reminder since you are my MUCH older sister. Didn't want the dementia to kick in and you forget my big day. This notice gives you plenty of time to go by the bank machine (on Sunday of course) and then to Joann's to shop (for ME, not you).

Don't forget my favorite color is blue, I LOVE wild flowers, walks in the park, romantic dinners, carriage rides...oh wait, that list is for Brian. Anyhoo, blue backgrounds will be great and make the frame dark, dark brown (not chocolate) instead of black. More like on the lighter side of ebony. Are you following this? If not, take me with you when you go and I'll just pick it out mahself. Better yet, just give me cash and I'll go all by my lonesome. If you want to go I guess you can since this was your idea and all. Just don't forget the bow. Oh yeah, and I want a personal message written on the front of mine. Something along the lines of how great of a (YOUNGER) sister I am. How I've always been there for you...

Did I say my bday was in April? I meant to say it's October 9th. Yeah, that's it, October 9th. Maybe Mr. Mom will let you go by the ATM today instead of Sunday. :)

Long story short, what a great craft idea MckMama!
